Development priorities and contemporary functioning of domestic stock market

The purpose of the article is to find out the problems and contradictions of Ukrainen stock market formation, to identify trends and directions for improving its functioning in the current economic conditions. The role and tasks of the stock market as part of the financial market are revealed. The dynamics and structure of the volume of shares’ issue, as well as the volume of trading them, are analyzed; on this basis current trends on the market are revealed. The research highlights the features and problems of the stock market functioning, which made it possible to conclude that this market in Ukraine is not yet at the proper level of development, in fact, it does not provide for needs of the real sector of the economy, has a speculative character, practically does not facilitate the transfer of capital to a competitive company / branches of the domestic economy. These circumstances considerably complicate the integration of the domestic stock market into the European and world financial environment. In Ukraine, in order to transform the stock market into an important segment of the domestic financial market and increase its role in ensuring the country's economic growth, it is necessary to implement a balanced approach to the use of debt securities by the government, to stimulate individuals’ activity in the stock market activities, as well as operations on the market, to carry out nonshadow privatization of stateowned companies, to improve a state regulation system of the market, to modernize the informational and technological component of operations with securities, etc. Equally important for ensuring the stable development of the stock market in the future is an uptodate reform of the state governance system which will have a positive impact on all aspects of society's life, in particular, ensure an effective protection of property rights, overcome corruption and make many other crucial steps that will enhance the role of the stock market in ensuring the country's economic growth and, as a result, improve the functioning of stock and general financial market of Ukraine and socioeconomic development of country.
